Hornist Katy Ambrose began musical studies at the age of four playing
violin. At age ten, she started studying french horn in school band.
Ms. Ambrose holds a Bachelors degree from the University of
Michigan where she received the William D. Revelli award. She also
holds a M.M.
from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and
received her Artist Diploma from Yale University where she is recipient
of the Henry and Lucy Moses fellowship. During her university studies
she was a student of Soren Hermansson, Randy Gardner and William
Purvis.
Ms. Ambrose has recently played with such ensembles as the
Daejeon Philharmonic in South Korea, Michigan Opera
Theater Orchestra, New Haven Symphony and Albany Symphony. She
served a one-year temporary term as assistant principal horn of the
Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, and currently holds positions with
theNortheastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic and the Wallingford
Symphony Orchestra.
